Customise your own Converse – Get creative!

We love high tops, but sometimes plain ready-made Converse aren’t exciting enough.

If you want a unique design that no one else has you should give ‘create your own converse’ a try.

You don’t have to be an artist to design a cool pair of kicks – you can show your individual style and personality through your own design.

Check out my design above. It’s pretty colourful and crazy, but you can design yours however you want, it’s totally up to you. That’s the beauty of it.

You will love them even more if you’ve made them. They are your own creation!

Bonfire night fashion – Remember Remember the 5th November

Bonfire night for us English folk is an annual commemoration and a mark in history we celebrate every year.

It marks the day Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, almost succeeded in blowing up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.

We spend bonfire night watching firework displays, standing around bonfires, eating treacle toffee and waving sparklers.

Wrapping up warm and getting lost in layers, whilst still looking stylish is always the main aim of bonfire night.

Strut your stuff amongst the fireworks this bonfire night – you won’t go wrong this year wearing this seasons winter woollies, a big wax jacket, riding boots and bags of confidence.

Use these 2o12 bonfire night ideas and you’ll go down with a BANG!

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot
I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

What fashion era do you belong to? ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s?

We all strive to follow the trends of 2012 and have heard the dreaded phrase ‘that is so last year’, but mixing 2012 with another fashion era can be super stylish and fashion-forward.

For example, wearing the latest knits with a pair of skinny jeans, riding boots and adding a ’60s style headband can create another element to your look and transform it from ordinary to interesting.

Take this quiz and find out what fashion era you belong to so you can start incorporating it into your style!

Compete in your very own Hunger Games and become Effie Trinket for Halloween!

Halloween is vast approaching and it’s time to gather your ideas and decide what amazing person/thing to morph into this year!

The Hunger Games is such a hot topic right now, becoming the number 1 film in America this year and based on the New York Times best seller trilogy written by Suzanne Collins.

Why not try this simple make-up idea and become the wonderful, elegant Effie Trinket for your Halloween outfit. Her striking make-up, eccentric clothes and backward hair style will never cause confusion as to who you have arrived as.

It’s a current and unique idea guaranteed to set you apart from the regular costumes we see multiple times every single year –  don’t dig out your cat costume for the third year running, that’s just lame!

Silence the room with your amazing Halloween outfit this year and “may the odds be ever in your favor”. You could even put on an English accent for effect (if you don’t already have one!)

You may be bang on-trend… but do you know this seasons must-have winter hats?

The temperature is dropping and it is time to rummage through your wardrobe for those vital winter woollies.

Hats are a must-have accessory for the winter – they can finish off any outfit and tie in with your favorite winter coat.

I bring you good news. This season there are lots of different  hat-styles in-fashion, which gives you more choice and the opportunity to try them all out.

Our celebs have it all planned out this winter, take a look at your stylish celebs in their winter-hat attire.

1. Turban hat

Kyle Minogue is wearing one of the newest trends this season, the turban hat. If you like this hat keep your eyes peeled as they are going to be very popular, especially over Christmas and the new year. It looks very pretty and sophisticated, especially if you decide to wear your hair down.

2. The bobble hat

If you are a traditionalist like Jessica Parker you will be pleased to know the bobble hat is back in!! My Dad’s ping golf hat will finally be in style and I will be a little less embarrassed when he wears it. This hat would look great with jeans, a knitted jumper and matching scarf to keep you all bundled up.

3. The floppy hat

Keep it cool and casual like Sienna Miller with a floppy beanie. The good thing about this hat is you can wear it with any outfit – from sports-wear to a long jacket and boots! Keep one of these in your hand bag this winter. You never know when you may need it!

4. Trapper hat

For those of you who want to stand out, spice up your outfit and try a trapper hat like Rihanna. These look their best with big winter jackets and UGG boots – with this outfit you would definitely turn a few heads.

5. Cossack hat

Love the fur like Fern Cotton and purchase your very own cossack hat. You can’t go wrong with a little fur in the winter months and this timeless style will keep your outfit classy and cute. Wear it with a long jacket or cable cardigan, boots and leg warmers – an amazing outfit to be admired!

It is time … to take a deep breath and clean out your cluttered wardrobe!

It’s now time to clear out your unwanted items or pieces that don’t suit your body shape. Take out one piece at a time and ask yourself:

1. Does this fit me?

2. Does this compliment my body shape?

3. Will I wear this again?

4. Is this in-style?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, it’s time to say goodbye. If your item passes the test it deserves to be placed back in your wardrobe with pride.

Watch how Gok Wan sorts out what’s hot and what’s not. Girls be brutal and clean out that wardrobe!

STOP before you buy Vans – choose Superga instead

Superga are the new shoes on the block – becoming more and more popular every day, especially now Alexa Chung is the creative director.

They are a similar style of shoe to Vans, but in my opinion better quality and a much better investment. They have a thicker sole, a wide range of colours to choose from and are well-made Italian shoes.

I purchased my Superga’s this summer and I have fallen in love with them. Mine are a green/blue and look amazing with jeans or high-waisted jean-shorts and leggings (add leggings under your shorts this time of year as it is getting a wee bit cooler.)

I advise you to choose a bright colour, but something that will match the majority of day-time outfits in your wardrobe. Make your Superga’s your statement piece and allow everyone else to admire them!

Everyone needs a good pair of casual day-time shoes and you are guaranteed to look smart and be ahead of the trend in your very own pair of Superga’s.

Ditch trashy, do classy with the Duchess of Cambridge – Kate Middleton

In the last year Kate Middleton has taken the UK by storm, becoming a national icon and role model for young women.

She has become the respectable, traditional royal everyone expected but has generated a lot of public interest in the clothes she wears.

Photographed at every single opportunity and event, Kate’s elegant, sophisticated and young style has become not only the talk of London but a global ‘hot topic!’

In today’s society we see women in TV and reality shows dressing and behaving in a disrespectful way in order to gain attention. Kate Middleton uses her position as the Duchess of Cambridge to set a good example for young women, hopefully showing them you don’t have to become like Snooki from Jersey Shore to be successful.

Three things to learn from Kate:

1. Always keep it classy and respectable.

2. When people are looking at you – give them something to talk about (as long as it’s positive.)

3. ‘Less is more’ – be natural and be yourself.

Snooki may get attention for wearing next-to-nothing, binge drinking and hitting the clubs, but ask yourself, is that who you want to be perceived as?

You can turn heads and create an impact keeping it classy, respectable and sophisticated. … You could even try a royal wave!

Keep up with Kate’s style and outfits – they could lead to inspiration for your next purchase.
